On November 14th and 21st, the Planning Partners 3rd XI took on East Doncaster 3rd XI at McCutcheon Oval

Marcellin 3rd XI travelled to Mont Albert Reserve to face one of their biggest challenges so far, Mont Albert’s 2nd XI.  With rain early in the week players were asked to report to grounds and play looked unlikely, but when the covers were removed the pitch looked quite good and Marcellin were sent in to bat.

The instructions were clear – bat the 80 overs and we win the game.

Round 2 saw the 1st XI take St Barnies down at Myrtle Oval. After losing the toss for the consecutive week, the 1s were sent in on a seaming deck. It was tough early doors for the Marcellin batsman but got through to lunch with the score around 4/80 with Whitey and Blacky still at the crease. The lunch break seemed to give the pitch a bit of time to dry and and it was all Marcellin for the remainder of the day. 40+ runs for White, Black and Burty and also a lovely 57 from Minto ensured that the Marcellin bowlers had something to bowl to. The innings coming to a close with the score of 8/269, a very competitive total.

Not a great match for the 2’s as we went down by 5 wickets to our old rivals North Balwyn. After winning the toss and being sent in our top order failed to fire with the score 3/7 at one stage. Luckily Lachie Evans for the second week in a row steered us away from disaster with a fantastic 81.
