Our Family and future - MOCCC - Season 2024/25

The MOCCC family is growing with the baby boom continuing, engagements and new recruits. Congratulations to all the new and experienced parents - Adam and Olivia Massarotti, Michael and Sam McColl, Joel Donnellan and Kirsten Brumley, Keyur Mehta and Twinkle Mashruwala, and; Daniel and Samantha Coloe, welcome to the MOCCC family little ones! Congratulations to club president Tim on his engagement to Georgia, who makes for a wonderful First Lady.

We welcome Surien Silva, his wife and daughter to our club. Surien is a right arm off spin bowler and middle order batsman recruited for the 2024/45 season. Sivien has 6 years of experience playing in Dunstan / Wright Shield.

We welcome opening batter and skilled wicketkeeper George Politis from Ormskirk Cricket Club, England. A product of Lancashire CCC’s age-group system, George is a regular for Merseyside giants Ormskirk in the Liverpool & District Cricket Competition in England.

We are thrilled to welcome several current Marcellin school boys to the club and all our teams will be playing on turf this season.

Preseason training has started: Maroondah Edge, 7 Gardini Ave, Ringwood 3134 VIC. 8.20 - 9.30pm 14th, 21st, 28th of August 4th, 11th, 18th and 24th of September

We received sad news recently with the passing of past player Bill (Vince) Price. Bill is foundly remembered by the MOCCC and wider cricket community, he was a MOCCC ‘82/83' Premiership Player. Deepest condolences to Bill’s wife Rosemary, four children, Amanda, Natalie, James, Jack and twelve grandchildren.

Between seasons we wished Brian Lowry a Happy 100th Birthday! Brian Lowry has been one of MOCCCs greatest supporters for many years. A veteran of the Second World War, serving for nearly 4 years in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), from July 1942 until February 1946, Brian was based in New Guinea, the Philippines and on Morotai Island. He was involved in intercepting Japanese code. He says the best thing about serving was the satisfaction of defending his country, meeting defence personnel from other countries, and the mate-ship. After the war, Brian worked in the Land Tax Department of the Victorian Public Service for 42 years. He was married to Mary and they had nine children. A few moons ago, Brian played AFL and cricket. These days, Brian attends all the exercise activities at the aged care facility and likes watching sport on TV. Brian credits his long life to ‘good karma’.

We encourage our long time supporters and newest members of the MOCCC family to come along to watch the games and say g’day to each other in 2024/25. The roadworks continue and there are changes around Marcellin, so please take care when entering and exiting the grounds. If you can’t make it to a game, this year we have Frog Box so you can stream our games live! More to come.
