The MOCCC recently inducted club stalwart Mick Lowry as a life member, a tremendous achievement for one of the club's most popular players. Since debuting for the club in the early 90's Mick's list of credits include
• over 200 games
• over 3000 runs at an average of over 20 (including 3 centuries in a season)
• multiple premierships
• managing to tell the same 4 jokes every week
• being the only player in living memory to think it's ok to consistently bring a bag of oranges for afternoon tea.
Any game played with Mick is going to be interesting with his unusual views on cricket and life. Team mates have been known to lay bets on how many balls he can defend at the start of his innings before resorting to his infamous slog-sweep to get off the mark, often while opening the batting! Special mention should go to the 21 poor souls that MyCricket controversially claim have been dismissed by Mick's bowling.
Anyone who believes spot fixing isn't an issue in Australian cricket need look no further. A very well-deserved honour for a club favourite who we're all sure has many more boundaries to mid-wicket in him and hopefully one day some different jokes. Well done, Lowza!
